Packing Drama

The last couple of days have been...an adventure. Full of action, sweat and tears! As luck has it, I chose to pack last minute, which coincided with a heat wave. Oh! the joys of going up and down several sets of stairs while you're sweating like a man! With three boxes left to go, I can honestly say that I have learned a lot! and since this blog is about the things that I've learned (while trying to make it in the Big City) I have compiled a list of lessons, so you don't have to go through the same drama.

1) Pack ahead, this is not the time to procrastinate! I started to panic a little when the Canada Post Website recommended that you start packing a month before the move. I started 2 hours before the scheduled move and I am still packing and moving.
2) This is the perfect time to edit your closet. Why and when did I buy a red poncho? Make sure this never happens again. EVER.
2b) In fact,  it's the perfect time to throw out or donate anything that you don't really use or need.
3) Set aside the essentials:
 - documents (passports, sin card, credit cards, bills, birth certificates, etc)
 - grooming products (deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, face wash, moisturizer, make up, etc)
 - a towel and some clothes you want to wear in the next couple of days.
 -  MONEY.
4) I know I always say save your money and cook your meals, but this is an exception. Do not buy groceries the week before. Do make healthy choices when eating out. This is not an excuse to pig out on junk.
5) Leave a pitcher of ice cold water in your fridge. It is so very important to keep hydrated while you're carrying around boxes. It's quite the workout!
6) Do clean up after yourself when you're done. It's the right to do.
7) Do not panic, blast on some good music, take it one room at a time and breath.

On Saturday I had the pleasure of witnessing  the legendary Flippin' Funny Show at the Court House, put on by the producers of The Most Races Show on Earth. It was hilarious from start to finish! A big congratulations goes out to Neil, Keith, Kevin, Ron and Joey for putting on a show that will go down in the history books.

Lexus Live @ The Distillery

I have never been seduced by a car, that is, until I met the Lexus CT 200h. I can't talk much about the car, I am no expert, but it is a good-looking car and it's a hybrid. A pretty luxurious hybrid too. I hear that hybrids are all the rage in the auto world.

What I can really talk about is the show that The Stills put on. The show was high energy and the crowd was super enthusiastic. Everyone was dancing and having a great time!

Here are some of the pictures:

{And then the night came, but the party was far from over}

So now you know what you're doing today! You're welcome :)

A special thank you goes out to the gals at Rock-It Promo for throwing a great party and inviting us!

H&M Fashion Studio

I take shopping very seriously. I have a limited budget so I can't afford to buy "mistake" pieces.  At the beiginning of every season I take a look at what I have in my closet and what I need. Then I browse through magazines, come up with a little look-book and off I go.

I was putting together my look-book for this Fall season and I came across the Fashion Studio at the H&M website. Can I just tell you how much I love H&M? The make it so easy to shop! not to mention affordable.

These are my Work, Weekend and Party looks (respectively):

Try it out! I spent a ridiculous amount of time at this site! you will love it too!

This was my first time at the Ex. I can not believe that it took me four years to make it! I'm glad I finally did, it was so much fun! I have to confess, I did not try the deep fried butter balls - the thought of indigestion was too frightening to me. If you want to try them out, do so, and tell me all about it!

MONDAY NOTE

{Birthday Flowers}

I woke up to this question on my Blackberry screen: Does anyone actually love their jobs? In my Monday morning state of mind I answered:

Jobs are like men. You date a few (or a lot) assholes, you learn your lessons and then you find the man you truly love. And you’re so good with him (or the job) because 1- you truly appreciate them (the man or the job) and 2 – you have experience.

Oh, that tricky little thing called experience. What a concept. You truly cannot get to point B without going through point A. In my 26 years of life, this is what I have learned. You might hate your job, dating, doing triple spins or whatever you hate, but you should do it anyways. Eventually you get better and it prepares you for something better. Maybe we focus too much in why we hate our jobs/guys/school to actually see things for what they are: A stepping stone (take advantage!).

Only in my Monday morning daze I can appreciate all of these things. The jerks I dated taught me not to settle, the bad jobs have given me great experience and those triple spins? They taught me how to trust myself and let go.
